The Heart of our Village
A majestic tree stands at the heart of our village and marks the entrance to our learning centers. The tree symbolizes knowledge, life, and growth, and reminds us every day of the potential that even the smallest seed has.
Philosophy
Research shows that the human brain gathers information in many ways, particularly through the five senses. Interestingly enough, the more senses a person uses to “record” a certain experience, the longer he or she will remember it and relate it to other experiences in his or her life.
Kids Village integrates activities such as sewing, painting, woodworking, and cooking into our curriculum. We take great care to make sure all of our lessons involve several senses at once to help children connect to the world in which they live. For example, when children learn The Story of the Little Red Hen, they actually experience what the Little Red Hen experienced: They feel the golden wheat, grind it into flour, and use it to make delicious homemade bread that they can share with their families. In the process, they also learn that cooperation and preparation lead to positive rewards and content, happy feelings inside. It is this approach to education that truly sets us apart.
