“From the outside, you’d never guess magical things were happening inside Kids Village, a learning center and school for children located in an Orem strip mall. Founded by Ann Whittaker, Kids Village educates children between ages two and fifteen in an interactive and hands-on environment.
The European decorated Kids Village is every child’s dream. Kids Village combines imagination and fun with learning. Firmly planted in the middle of the village is a large tree symbolizing the mission of Kids Village: life, knowledge, and growth.
Ann created Kids Village after her own son had development difficulties. She decided that while he might never be at the top of his class scholastically, he could become proficient in a number of skills. She began teaching him how to cook and how to fix the bicycles in the garage and realized he was learning more than she imagined was possible.
Ann discovered that her child learned best when he combined several of his senses. Research confirmed her discovery, and Ann decided to help other children by creating a school that combined multiple senses and skills. Kids Village has been a success so far. Ann’s students are learning material their counterparts in traditional schools won’t learn for sometimes several years. Class sizes at the village are small, and each teacher has only 15 students, which means plenty of one-on-one time.
Ann says she’s glad everyone has unique talents. She says if everyone enjoyed the same things, the world would be boring. By teaching children through an innovative and imaginative program, Ann hopes each child will discover many things they love. Ann had grand visions for Kids Village and plans to keep teaching children to love learning.”
